Bruising

Bruising is a very general term for a condition in which blood leaks out of the blood vessels into the tissues of the skin, mucous membranes or other organs, including muscles and bones.

Skin bruising can be caused by many things, including:

  • Injury – Everyday injuries or more serious trauma
  • Age – Mature, thinning skin
  • Serious underlying diseases
  • Medications that can cause bruising

If you are concerned about bruising, be sure to talk to your doctor about underlying causes and possible treatment options.
